Director's role Unit 2 Assesment

Wide angle establishing shot of London

Mid- shot of two people talking and walking in which simply shows the type of relationship that they have and from the video it shows that they are close. The two boys are singled out in the crowd. People around them would be people in which vary from 16-25 years old.

Close up shot of another person in which the audience haven’t seen who is now packing a number of different things and putting them in a box, which seems to be a bit random but will then make sense later on in the video sequence

Still and long shot of the third character who was introduced from the previous scene now walking into a high street/ shopping center with the box in which was also seen in the previous scene.

A close up of what is written on the box, which is the first time the audience would have seen the phrase ‘pass it on’ on the box

Wide angle shot of the main character then giving the box to someone in a restaurant

Close up of the person in which the box was given with a shocked reaction but also a good reaction and then most importantly the person then looking at the phrase saying ‘pass it on’

Fast paced edit of close ups in which the person giving the box to someone else then that person has good reaction and then seeing the phrase ‘pass it on’ and then the person in which the box was given to then opens up the book and it has normal everyday goods in which people use(bearing in mind that each of these actors who would have received the box all represent the target audience of 16-25)

Close ups of the person who had opened the box them putting different items in the box and then sealing it with the pass it on sign on the box and then the cycle starts to repeat itself again.

Background music in which is upbeat and appeals to the target audience and then entices them to carry on watching the video

SFX- chatter of other people that are around them which is edited to be low so that what they are talking about is what is the main focus, there would have also been pre recorded audio in which they are talking about things that they want to get and they would like to get

Background music which is needed, as the third character doesn’t need any dialogue.

Low level chatter of other people talking and simply getting on with their day.

Low level chatter of other people talking and simply getting on with their day.

Introduction of background music.

Fundamentals of shooting visual sequences

Visual sequences - what do they do?
Compress time
Provide context and detail
Reinforce narrative

Shoot a variety of wide, medium and tight shots which help move the viewer

Sequences help compress time in a video(advanced montage)

Shoot establishing shots of the action to create context

Use different medium shots to the action to create context

More close ups rather than wide or medium shots to produce the detail necessary

Close ups help to stop jump cuts

Jump cuts interrupt continuity

Do not feel compelled to follow the action

Avoid using pans, tilts and zooms
